Seal & Expunge

Follow the steps below to request a case be sealed or expunged.

Step 1
Visit the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Seal/Expunge website to determine your Seal/Expunge Type, Eligibility, and Application for a Certificate of Eligibility. 

Step 2
Once you have obtained your Certificate of Eligibility from FDLE, download the Sealing & Expungement packet.

Step 3
File the following documents with the Clerk’s Office:

• Original petition
• Affidavit
• Certificate of Eligibility
• Proposed Order to Expunge or Order to Seal

Step 4
Send a copy of the documents in Step 3 to the prosecutor and arresting agency.

Be sure to keep a copy of all documents for your records.

Fees

• $42.00 – Sealing & Expungement (§ 28.26(26), Fla. Stat.)
• $1.00 – Copy Fee Per Page (§ 28.24(6)(a), Fla. Stat.)
• $2.00 – Certification Fee (§ 28.24 (4)(a), Fla. Stat.)

Once a case is expunged, the Clerk & Comptroller’s office is not able to provide any case information or copies without a court order.

Forms of Payment

• Online at NCourt (3.5% nCourt convenience fee applies)
• Money order or cashier’s check (payable to the Clerk & Comptroller)
• Cash (in person only)
