Clerk of the Board

The Core Services of the Clerk of the Board are sanctioned by Florida Statutes (FS), local Ordinances and Resolutions, and County Policies. FS, Chapter 28, Section 12, establishes the Clerk of the Board as the custodian of the minutes and all official records for the Board of County Commissioners (BCC), and has custody of the County Seal. The Clerk of the Board must comply with FS, Chapter 119, Public Records, and Chapter 286, Public Business: Miscellaneous Provisions.

The following is a list of Core Services currently provided by the Clerk of the Board Office: Attending meetings and taking the minutes for the following entities:

Clerk for the Common Facilities Districts, being Crescent Lakes, Indian Creek, Indian Point, and Indian Ridge Villas: Districts established by County Ordinances; the Clerk of the Board Office is hired by each District; paid on an established hourly fee; each District meets quarterly and also holds a budget public hearing; and special meetings are occasionally called.

Clerk for the Five Water Districts: Districts established by County Ordinance, meets only when called.

County Commission meetings: FS, Chapter 28, and FS, Chapter 119, the Board currently meets first, second, and third Mondays of every month, (as set by Resolution) workshops, special meetings, and emergency meetings when called.

East US 192 Community Redevelopment Agency Board: Resolutions #12-004R and #12-025R, County Commission members serves as the Board for this entity, meetings when called.

Other various Sunshine Committee meetings: FS, Chapter 286, meetings when called.

Research is a major part of the function of the Board Support Specialist. Such research is sometimes very brief, and yet at other times can prove extensive and time consuming. For requests requiring over one-half hour of time there would be a charge of the hourly salary cost in addition to the cost of duplication. Charges for copies are covered under Florida Statutes 119.07 (l)(a).

Conducts research for documents and minutes in accordance with FS, Chapter 119 for citizens and County departments.

There is a one-time charge of $1.00, plus .15 cents per page, per document is imposed for certification for other than County Departments.
