Get Your Warrant Swapped Out at Osceola County’s Safe Surrender Event
The Office of Kelvin Soto, Esq., Osceola Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is pleased to announce the Osceola County Safe Surrender Event will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Kissimmee Civic Center located at 201 East Dakin Ave, Kissimmee, FL, 34741.
The Safe Surrender event provides an opportunity for individuals to turn themselves in and clear outstanding warrants for non-violent misdemeanor crimes in a safe and dignified manner. At the event, participants will meet virtually with a Judge. Osceola County Safe Surrender Day is not an amnesty program, but does offer favorable considerations from the court, often in the form of reduced fines, probation requirements or a new court date as an alternative to jail time. Individuals may also apply for a public defender at the event.
As long as the warrant was issued in Osceola County participants do not need to be a resident of Osceola County to attend, however they do need to be an American citizen or legal resident. Participants must bring some form of photo ID. Children are not permitted.
The most common non-violent misdemeanor warrants are due to failure to appear for their court date or probation violation.
Previous participants expressed their gratitude for this event as it allowed those individuals to set a new court date appearance without receiving jail time, paying additional fines, or having to miss work. Other participants said it saved them the embarrassment of being arrested in front of their families or co-workers.
The event is a collaboration between the Office of Kelvin Soto, Esq the Osceola Clerk of Court and County Comptroller, Osceola County, State Attorney’s Office, Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, Public Defender’s Office, Osceola County Corrections, St. Cloud Police Department, Kissimmee Police Department and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Este evento se llevará acabo el martes 18 de Octubre de 2022, de 8:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. en el Centro Cívico Kissimmee ubicado en 201 East Dakin Ave, Kissimmee, FL, 34741.
Este evento brinda una oportunidad para que las personas se entreguen y liquiden las órdenes de arresto pendientes por delitos menores no violentos de una manera segura y digna. En el evento, los participantes se reunirán virtualmente con un Juez. El Día de Safe Surrender del Condado de Osceola no es un programa de amnistía, pero ofrece consideraciones favorables de la corte, a menudo en forma de multas reducidas, requisitos de libertad condicional o una nueva fecha en la corte como alternativa al tiempo en la cárcel. Las personas también pueden solicitar un defensor público en el evento.
Siempre y cuando la orden se emitió en el Condado de Osceola, los participantes no necesitan ser residentes del Condado de Osceola para asistir, sin embargo, sí necesitan ser ciudadanos estadounidenses o residentes legales. Los participantes anteriores expresaron su gratitud por este evento, ya que permitió a esas personas establecer una nueva comparecencia en la corte sin recibir tiempo en la cárcel, pagar multas adicionales o tener que faltar al trabajo. Otros participantes dijeron que les ahorró la vergüenza de ser arrestados frente a sus familias o compañeros de trabajo.
El evento es una colaboración entre la Oficina de Kelvin Soto, Esq el Secretario de la Corte de Osceola y el Contralor del Condado, el Condado de Osceola, la Oficina del Fiscal del Estado, el Tribunal del Noveno Circuito Judicial de Florida, la Oficina del Defensor Público, las Correcciones del Condado de Osceola, el Departamento de Policía de St. Cloud, el Departamento de Policía de Kissimmee y la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Osceola.
